Play-HQ (Wellington) encourages creative discovery with open-ended activities, workshops and play for children under 5 years of age. We were responsible for re-designing a new play space with the ultimate goal of igniting and fueling this creative spark.
A multidisciplinary team of designers came together, capable of building our new theme ‘Soundscapes’ from the ground up – from idea conception and design right through to construction and final execution of the install.
For ‘Soundscapes’ we tackled the ambitious goal of including both acoustic and digital sound through; a touch sensitive sound wall, a giant interactive mushroom, a voice echo cave, soundscapes inside crawl tunnels, tree stump congas, floor to ceiling chiming vines and more.
The installations intersect art, play and technology, encouraging creative exploration and imagination to provide an unforgettable experience for our young tamariki.
Forage among SoundScapes to discover and explore sounds inspired by New Zealand nature.
Navigate your way through the interactive tree trunk tunnels to unearth the trickling sounds of The Water Stream, The Squishy Forest Floor and The Echos of Glow Worm Cove.
SoundScapes is designed and created through Capital E’s Ideatorium process by Tony De Goldi & Simon Watts in collaboration with Capital E.
Free play space at PlayHQ, 4 Queens Wharf Wellington.
Suits tamariki aged 5 and under.
